Position: Sanctuary Nature Ambassador Program (SNAP)

Impact Statement: Volunteer to go for a walk! SNAP volunteers walk the trails around Swan Lake and Christmas Hill welcoming visitors, monitoring trail conditions and promoting the mission and values of the Sanctuary. Exercise, volunteer, meet new people - what a perfect combination.
Description: Nature Ambassadors serve a vital role in representing and promoting Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Society (SLCHNS) to site visitors. SNAP volunteers also support the well-being of Swan Lake's ecosystems by walking the trails around the lake and Christmas Hill, reporting any concerns and tracking site visitors.

Key Responsibilities:
Walk Swan Lake and Christmas Hill trails, welcome and offer educational information to visitors
Monitor and report to staff any safety concerns on trails or in Sanctuary lands
Monitor and report number of visitors and different types of visitor interactions
Share experiences and ideas to improve the visitor and volunteer experience
Training Details: Initial orientation with volunteer services team. Training provided by experienced SNAP volunteers via buddy walks and educational materials
Working Conditions: Outdoor walking over sometimes slippery and wet terrain, in all kinds of weather.
Minimum Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
Age: 12+
