Impact Statement: Victoria Opportunities for Community Youth Leadership (VOCYL) is a program that allows youth both with and without disabilities the opportunity to connect with one another in a meaningful way and develop leadership skills while sharing the message of inclusion and belonging.



VOCYL's philosophy is that everyone has the right to belong - no matter their race, gender, size, age, religion, sexual orientation or ability. VOCYL members have the desire to share their knowledge and experiences in order to advocate for change in their local schools and communities.

VOCYL youth meet bi-weekly on Thursday evenings and have the chance to:

Make new friends
Give inclusion awareness presentations to local schools
Participate in community events, conferences, outreach and reatreats
Build leadership skills
Plan social events and activities
Have tons of fun!
Description: VOCYL youth leaders meet bi-weekly (every two weeks) on a Thursday night for 1.5 hours and have the chance to build leadership skills, deliver inclusion awareness presentations to local schools, plan and participate in social and community events, make new friends and have tons of fun!

All participating youth, both with and without disabilities, are there as equals and support one anther in creating an inclusive, safe and youth lead program that makes a difference in our community.
Training Details: Youth meet with VOCYL coordinator to discuss program expectations.
Minimum Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekday - Evening
Time Detail: Every other Thursday evening from 6:30-8pm
Age: 15+
