Our Mission

BGC South Vancouver Island
For over 56 years, BGC South Vancouver Island has been helping young people to discover, develop and achieve their best potential by engaging them in activities that challenge and help them develop healthy minds and bodies. Our programs support the healthy physical, educational and social development of more than 1,234 children, youth, and their families in Greater Victoria each year. Children and youth have played, learned and developed essential life skills through our safe, caring Club environments and our enriching, strengths-based, skills-focussed programs. Our programs help prepare children and youth for life by helping them to discover and develop their abilities and skills, building their confidence and competence. Club staff also build self-esteem in kids by empowering them to help shape programs and share their ideas. Through these opportunities, youth are given the chance to develop life and leadership skills and learn how to contribute to Clubs and their communities. Programs include physical recreation, nutrition, technology, the arts, leadership, personal development and more.
