Description This position assists the Education Team in caring for the display and exotic reptiles and invertebrates who live in the Nature House.

NOTE: 40 hrs of volunteer experience at Swan Lake or at a similar organization is required for this role. This prior experience does not need to be in animal care.

Key Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Education Team assist with:

•Feeding animals, cleaning habitats and monitoring animals using safe techniques
•Holding animals to provide enrichment
•Entering observations and feeding details in Excel spreadsheet or written notes
•Ensuring equipment and food supplies are clean and stored correctly


Our Expectations of Volunteers:

•Support the Mission and Values of the Sanctuary and its efforts in education, restoration and responsible stewardship
•Co-operation with administrative tasks
Training Details Training:

•Program training provided by Education and Animal Care Team staff
•Orientation on the history and current community and volunteer programs at the Sanctuary
Working Conditions Mostly indoor, with some outside time. Some lifting required.
Minimum Duration 4 - 6 months
Timing Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail We are looking for 1 animal care volunteer for a 1.5 hr daytime Saturday shift.
