Description: Volunteers provide escorted direction and information to patients, and patients’
families and /or friends, staff, and the public when they enter the hospital, thereby enhancing
hospital guest relations. Volunteers help with the patients in the Discharge Lounge Volunteers
when needed, thereby providing a welcoming area for patients to wait to be picked up.
Goal: Volunteers will support and engage the patient, with a focus on Quality, Safety, and
Experience in patient care, thus enhancing the patient and visitor experience at Royal Jubilee
Training Details: 8 hours of online training
Attendance to a New Employee & Volunteer C.A.R.E. Orientation
Assignment Guide and Manual; Specific Program Manual
New information Desk Volunteers are assigned a Mentor, who is usually the Volunteer Team Leader or an experienced volunteer.
The 2 will meet with the Manager of Volunteer Resources for initial training.
Further training with Mentor Volunteer are available if required.
Working Conditions: Volunteers are encouraged to have a 3hours shift on weekdays/weekends
Minimum Duration: 4 - 6 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: weekdays/ weekends preferred, 3hours per week
Age: 18+
