Position: Habitat Restoration Volunteer - Parks Canada National Volunteer Program
Location: Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse NHS, Fort Rodd Hill Road, Victoria, BC, Canada
Description: As Weekend Warrior, you will help Parks Canada restore endangered Garry Oak ecosystems at beautiful Fort Rodd Hill & Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites. Gain hands-on experience in ecosystem restoration, enjoy the outdoors, learn about Garry Oak ecosystems and species at risk, meet friendly people and build your resumé.

Volunteer activities vary seasonally. Examples:
•Using loppers and hand-pulling to remove invasive species (Daphne Laurel, Scotch Broom, English Ivy).
•Planting bulbs and seeds using hand-trowels or shovels.
•Cutting & raking grass in our Garry Oak meadow.
•Spreading mulch using wheelbarrows and shovels.
Training Details: No previous experience is required. Parks Canada staff will provide you with all of the training you need when you arrive and will work with you side-by-side.
Minimum Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: Events run bi-weekly on Saturdays. Stay all day and enjoy a complimentary vegetarian-friendly lunch!
