ElderDog Victoria is 100% volunteer-run. To carry out our work, we depend on the commitment and dedication of volunteers and the guidance of our strong leadership team. We are looking for two organized, compassionate people (and dog lovers) to share the rewarding Dog Care Support Coordinator role and join our executive team. The Dog Care Support program enables older adults with challenges affecting the care of their beloved pets, to continue to benefit from their relationship with their canine companions. |

The skill set we are looking for: A ‘people person’ who cares about seniors and understands their complex needs and who has compassion and understanding of dogs and the unique relationship they have with their owners * Self motivated and highly organized * Collaborative and thrives in a team environment * Familiar with managing a gmail account Duties The Dog Care Support Co-coordinators are a part of the Dog Care Support team and lead the following duties: - responding to inquiries for assistance; - organizing initial visits with seniors to determine services required and fill out appropriate paperwork; - scheduling senior support services; - keeping records of program activities; - submitting required paperwork to National Office; - participating in monthly teleconferences with other Dog Care Support Coordinators; - communicating with Pawd Leader, members, and National Office on an ongoing basis. |

Training Details |
Volunteers are required to complete 4 steps: Step 1: Completion of a volunteer application. This can be found on our website: www.elderdog.ca/Volunteer. Return your completed form via email to: elderdogvictoria@gmail.com Step 2: Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check through your local police department. A letter from ElderDog is required and will be provided to you upon completion of step #1. Because this is a background check for a volunteer position through a charitable organization, there is no cost to you to obtain this check. Step 3: Submission of a photo (headshot/selfie) that will be used to create a personal ID badge. Step 4: Attendance at a (virtual) orientation session. An invitation to upcoming sessions will be sent to you once your application form is received. |
