Description |
The Glenshiel Housing Society (GHS) is currently recruiting committed and dynamic individuals to join our Board of Directors. We are seeking to diversify our Board. Board members provide strategic leadership and direction to confirm the Glenshiel’s mission. They approve the Strategic Plan and oversee and evaluate its results, assure financial health, provide fundraising leadership and enhance the organization’s public image. Members will serve as ambassadors for The Glenshiel, creating opportunities and nurturing relations in support of its strategic objectives. This is a closed Board of up to 12 members, including two staff positions. Successful applicants will be highly motivated, able to work independently as well as collaboratively with the Board and GHS staff, and knowledgeable in current issues, trends and legislation affecting seniors housing. Working Conditions |
Directors will: *Engage in all board activities to support and promote a culture of high performance, ethical behaviour, accountability, transparency and open communication *Prepare for, and attend monthly Board meetings and AGM, actively participating in discussions and decisions. *Support one or more Board Committees as needed (i.e Management, Finance & Audit, Governance) *Provide counsel and input to review strategy and approaches, based on specific areas of expertise *Assist the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities such as reviewing policies and financial statements. *Contribute to the creation of a collaborative working relationship among the Board members, staff and volunteers. Prior experience on a non-profit Board or other related governance experience. Readiness to support fundraising for the Glenshiel with ideas, contacts & experience. Experience in reviewing financial statements and budget forecasts. Strong communication and networking skills and success in working within a diverse team. Effective e-communication and digital-readiness. |
