Position: Go Girls! Mentors for the fall - Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Program
Impact Statement: “Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds” is a mentoring program designed to encourage physical activity, healthy eating, and positive self-image among girls aged 10 to 14.
Description: Two to four female mentors (aged 19 to 30) are matched with a small group of girls (Grades 6 to 8) and meet at the girls’ middle schools during or after school hours or at select locations on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings for ten weeks. Each weekly session is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long and there is some additional preparation time required as well. Mentors are asked to commit to volunteering for two 10-week sessions between now and June 2019.

Specific times and locations for the fall are yet to be determined.
Training Details: Go Girls! facilitators are required to attend a two-hour orientation/child safety training session (multiple dates available) as well as a day-long facilitator training session (date to be determined but will probably be on a Saturday several weeks before the program start-date).
Working Conditions: The Go Girls! program runs at several middle school across the region during the school day as well as Royal Bay School and Uptown Shopping Centre during the evenings.
Minimum Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail: There are several different volunteer time slots to choose from:

Mondays, 1 to 2:30 pm at Shoreline Community School (View Royal)
Tuesdays, 1 to 2:20 pm at Spencer Middle School (Langford)
Tuesdays, 6 to 8 pm at Uptown Go Girls! Lounge (Saanich)
Wednesday, 8:45 to 10:15 am, John Stubbs Memorial School (Colwood)
Wednesdays, 1 to 2:20 pm at Rockheights Middle School (Esquimalt)
Wednesdays, 6 to 8 pm at Uptown Go Girls! Lounge (Saanich)
Thursdays, 1 to 2:20 pm at Dunsmuir Middle School (Colwood)
Thursdays, 6 to 8 pm at Royal Bay Secondary School (Colwood)
