Description: Volunteers provide patients with an accessible and free library service of books, magazines, or puzzle books. Volunteers are encouraged to have a conversation with patients while they are choosing their reading materials thereby providing social support for patients.
Training Details: 8 hours of online training
Attendance to a New Employee & Volunteer C.A.R.E. Orientation
Assignment Guide and Manual; Specific Program Manual
New Volunteers are assigned a Mentor, who is usually the Volunteer Team Leader or an experienced volunteer.
The two will meet with the Manager of Volunteer Resources for initial training.
Further training with Mentor Volunteer is available if required.
Working Conditions: Volunteers are encouraged to have a 2 hour shift on weekdays/weekends
Minimum Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: Shifts are available seven days a week and run for 3-4 hours, with the first shift beginning at 10am and the last shift ending at 6pm. Please see website for a complete list of available shifts.
