Impact Statement The Mental Health Visiting & Activity program matches volunteers with individuals living in mental health group homes to provide companionship and reduce isolation.
As a volunteer this is an excellent opportunity to develop an understanding of mental illness and to support someone to achieve their recovery goals.
Description The Mental Health Visiting and Activity program matches community volunteers with individuals living within Island Health's Mental Health and Substance Use residential services. Volunteers play a key role to reduce isolation by providing companionship to a resident by going out for coffee, attending a community event, playing a card game or simply visiting them on a regular basis.
Volunteers and clients are matched according to their compatibility, interests, locations and time availability. Activities are based on the mutual interest of both the volunteer and client.
COVID-19 Vaccination Required Yes
Training Details Orientation will be provided.
Working Conditions Criminal records check and references mandatory. COVID-19 Full Vaccination Mandatory. 19+ years old. Six month commitment. Times are to be determined.

Timing Anytime
Time Detail 1 to 2 hours per week - times are negotiable.
