Homelessness touches many lives at a significant cost to communities. The Cool Aid Society has been a key player in the work to end homelessness in the Capital Region for decades and, with your help, is developing 360 more apartments for people who are currently homeless.

Volunteers run many of our programs here at Rock Bay Landing (RBL). Without their time, our clients would be unable to access computer services, hygiene services, clothing and other donations. The time given to us by our volunteers is immeasurably valuable and we appreciate every moment of it.
Description: We are looking for folks who are able to assist our clients in our computer room. This helps people struggling with homelessness reconnect with their families and build important job-readiness skills., by supervising our free access computer room at Rock Bay Landing. This room is only open when we have volunteers like you to help, and is an important resource that helps many overcome the challenges of homelessness.
Training Details: This position is unpaid but the training and orientation are free of charge. Also, a complimentary meal from our meal program is available to the volunteer during their shift.
Working Conditions: The volunteer will be working in the computer room. Clients will have access to the computers for various purposes (for example, resume building, social interaction, searching for a home etc.) Clients have a 20 minute time slot unless there are no clients waiting for a free terminal.
The volunteer is responsible for recording in the computer log book (client's name and length of use).
Ideally, the volunteer would have a basic understanding of computers. Additional knowledge of resume-building and relevant search engines for housing and job searching would be an asset.
There is no lifting or physical fitness requirement.
Minimum Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime, Weekend - Evening
Time Detail: A commitment of 1-3 hour shifts. 10-11 am, 12:15-2:30 pm. 5-7 pm, 7-9 pm Monday-Sunday.
