Position: Dementia Helpline Team Member - First Link Dementia Helpline
Location: 202-306 Burnside Road West, Victoria, BC, Canada
Impact Statement: In British Columbia, 70,000 people are affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. On the First Link Dementia Helpline we get calls every day from those who are newly diagnosed with dementia, their family members, friends and caregivers who are looking for support and information.
Description: The First Link Dementia Helpline is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who use empathetic listening and thorough training to address caller concerns. The volunteer then connects them to the appropriate Alzheimer Society programs and resources in their community.
Training Details: • Skype for business training
• In-depth training on dementia-related community resources
• Access to Society dementia education programs
• Level 1,2 and 3 Volunteer Training advancement opportunities
Working Conditions: Office environment with a possible opportunity to work out of home during evening shifts
Minimum Duration: 7 - 12 months
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening
Time Detail: 3.5 hours a week
9 am -12:30 pm or 12:30 pm - 4 pm or 5 pm - 8:30 pm
Age: 19+
