Position Farmers Market Volunteers - The James Bay Community Market
Location Corner of Menzies and Superior Street
Impact Statement The James Bay Community Market will operate in a modified version for our 2020 season from May 2 – September 26. Although Farmers markets have been declared an essential service during the COVID-19 outbreak by the BC Government our look will be quite different as we operate under strict new regulations from the BC Centre for Disease Control and VIHA. Only food (fresh, frozen and prepared) can be sold. No sampling, no music and no crafter are allowed at this time. Although we will miss our local musicians and fabulous crafters, we are open and happy to support our local farmers and food producers. Social distancing and extra hygiene practices will be in effect. On sale will be a vast array of farm-fresh products from local meats to seasonal veggies and fruit. We will also feature top-quality traditional baked goods, pasta, specialty sauces and seasoning, humus, canning to name a few of our locally made food products.
Description The James Bay Market runs every Saturday from May 2 to September 26 from 9 am to 1 pm at the corner of Menzies and Superior Street in James Bay. During the COVID - 19 crisis we are looking for volunteers to help us set up the market from 7:00 am to 9 am and take-down from 1 pm to 2:15 pm and we are looking for volunteers during the day in shifts of 8:45 – 11 am and 11 am to 1:15 pm to help with making sure customers are social distancing and assist our market manager. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer supporting this wonderful Market, you can e-mail info@jamesbaymarket.com or call 250-381-5323 for more information.
