Impact Statement We are a volunteer, non-profit organization providing sport, recreation, training and competition to athletes with intellectual disabilities in the Capital Region.
Description Becoming a head coach with Special Olympics Victoria will provide you with an incredible opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our athletes. As a head coach, you will be responsible for ensuring athletes, coaches and volunteers have the tools and encouragement they need to have a positive experience. Key responsibilities include:
• Planning and implementation of sport skills development and activities for athletes
• Orientating and mentoring assistant coaches and program volunteers
• Preparing a monthly status report for the Local Committee
Training Details Head Coaches require training and certification (within one year) in accordance with Special Olympics BC coach training/certification guidelines. Please visit https://www.specialolympics.ca/british-columbia/get-involved/volunteer/coaching for more information.
Minimum Duration 4 - 6 months
Timing Weekday - Evening
Time Detail Weekly practices on Monday nights from 6 - 8:30 p.m.
