Impact Statement The Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival Association is a volunteer-based organization. We are dedicated to working with performing arts educators to develop artistic skills and a love of the performing arts for all ages and skill levels in music, dance, and speech arts. Our annual community festival provides reputable professionals who foster inclusion, education, and performance opportunity during adjudicated sessions. We celebrate participation, achievement, and excellence through a series of special concerts and an awards program.

We require a volunteer Treasurer to sit on our Board of Directors. Directors are elected at our AGM for a term of two years and officers are elected by the Board annually for one-year terms.
Description Duties and Responsibilities
• Be custodian of the funds of the Society, depositing them and disbursing them as directed by the Board or within the authority delegated by the Board
• Be empowered to sign official documents as specified in the Bylaws
• Keep accurate records of all transactions. Prepare financial reports for Board meetings
• Prepare annual budgets and assist committees and board portfolio holders with their budgets.
• Coordinate and provide required financial information to the Society’s appointed Accounting firm for the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements
• Assist with providing relevant financial information as required for grant applications
• Oversee and manage organization’s bookkeeping and accounting practices and procedures
• Acts as official liaison with the external accountant and staff bookkeeper.
Training Details Training provided by the Board and Office Administrator.

Skills and qualifications
• CPA or other recognized accounting designation or equivalent experience with corporate and/or not-for-profit financial management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise confidentiality and good judgment
• Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and an ability to prioritize
• Understands the Governance principles of Boards of Directors and is able to extrapolate data and synthesize strategic financial direction for the organization
• Experience in a performing arts organization would be an asset
Minimum Duration More than 1 year
Timing Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening
Time Detail Typical time commitment will be 5-10 hours per month which may increase to 10-15 hours for one to two months following Festival in early May annually. The incumbent must attend monthly board meetings (virtually or in person as conditions dictate) in addition to carrying out portfolio and committee activities. Board meetings occur at 5:00 PM on the evening of the third Wednesday every month.
