Description |
The Maritime Museum of BC is seeking Visitor Service Volunteers to assist at our Front Desk. This is a service-oriented position that gives volunteers the opportunity to interact with visitors and to share BC’s maritime history and culture. Included duties are: Greeting visitors, Process payments visitors, give visitors an overview of the space, Process Membership purchases and make sure Membership forms are filled out, Process payments for Museum shop purchases and provide assistance as needed, Answer questions that people might have or pass questions along to staff as necessary Special benefits for regular volunteers include: • Complimentary annual individual membership • 10% off in the Gift Shop • Museum knowledge and /or an interest in maritime history an asset • Visitor service skills an asset • Good telephone manner • Point of sale experience and cash handling • Training is provided |

Training Details | Training will be provided by Membership & Donations Coordinator. Staff members always on-site to assist with questions. New Volunteers will be giving a half-hour to hour training session while the Museum is closed. |
Working Conditions | Barrier set up at desk between visitors and Volunteers. Hand sanitizer is provided. Comfortable chair provided! Feel free to bring along a book to read, during slow periods. |

Timing | Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime |
Time Detail | 3.5 hour shifts. Shifts are 10am - 1:30pm or 1:30pm to 5pm |
