Impact Statement Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Maritime Museum of BC.

Volunteers are keen and motivated to be involved with the MMBC at many levels. Master mariners, marine experts, historians, authors, educators, librarians, scientists, administrators, economists, accountants, students, all donate their talents and expertise.

By sharing your time, you help us promote and share our maritime heritage with the public and increase our capacity to offer better and more engaging programming!
Description The Maritime Museum of BC is seeking Visitor Service Volunteers to assist us with our Front Desk operations. This is a service-oriented position that gives volunteers the opportunity to interact with visitors and to share BC’s maritime history and culture. Duties include welcoming visitors into the Museum; processing admissions and memberships; and making Gift Shop sales.

Volunteer openings to process admissions and gift shop sales.
• Museum knowledge and /or an interest in maritime history an asset, but not essential
• Outgoing visitor service skills an asset – ability to meet and greet visitors and answer questions.
• Good telephone manner – answer telephone and direct calls
• Operate a cash register and point of sale experience
• Training is provided
Training Details Training will be provided by Membership & Donations Coordinator. Staff members always on-site to assist with questions. New Volunteers will be giving a half-hour to hour training session while the Museum is closed.
Working Conditions Barrier set up at desk between visitors and Volunteers. Hand sanitizer is provided. Comfortable chair provided! Feel free to bring along a book to read, during slow periods.
