Impact Statement The Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing Centre is only non-profit agency of its kind on Vancouver Island. We provide leadership, innovative solutions and services through engaging and educating communities, strengthening families, and fighting isolation. Some of our services offerings include hearing health support for at-risk adults, assistance with job searching and community social events for the Deaf community.
Description Island Deaf and Hard of Hearing is looking for a person to meet with Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals in the community (either in person or via Zoom) to assist clients with participating in recreational activities, socializing or helping them meet identified learning goals. Community Mentors are matched with clients based on shared interests and hobbies such as a passion for music or love of outdoor activities.
Training Details In house training.
Minimum Duration 3 months or less
Timing Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail 1-1 meeting with Dear or Hard of Hearing individuals via Zoom or at the our office with social distancing procedures in place.
