Description MAKE MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS. SUPPORT LITERACY. HAVE FUN!

VLC is seeking volunteer PenPals to write to children and youth from our literacy programs.

A fun and rewarding way to support our young learners through correspondence.
In this unique volunteer opportunity you will not be tutoring. Rather, you will help learners aged 10-17 connect with a compassionate adult from the community - you! By writing letters, the youth will 'learn without lessons' and practice their literacy skills. And create lasting memories with you!

Stationery and postage provided (electronic correspondence also available).
Open to adults 40+ from the South Island.

An added bonus to joining our volunteer 'family' as a PenPal is that you will also be eligible to participate as a tutor in our other programs if you wish!

Minimum Duration More than 1 year

Time Detail On average 1-2 letters per month to each of your young PenPals.
