Description |
Support groups follow the mutual aid model, where participants help one another. As a facilitator, you’ll ensure this model is maintained while fostering a welcoming environment. Qualifications: We are seeking individuals with counseling, social work, mental health experience, or a master’s in psychology. Experience with dementia or group facilitation is preferred. Retired professionals are encouraged to apply. Roles: • Create a safe, welcoming environment • Share relevant information and education • Empower participants • Facilitate group discussions and logistics Time commitment: schedule to be determined, with a goal of finding the right candidate by Spring 2025. Minimum of one year. |
Training Details |
All support group facilitators will complete a thorough orientation and training process: - Two day in person or virtual seminar - e-learning modules (5 hours) - Shadowing (on-site training) |
Working Conditions |
Facilitators will engage with individuals living with dementia in a supportive and social group setting. The dynamics and social conditions may vary depending on the group. While COVID-19 vaccination is not mandatory, facilitators must provide one of the following upon their start date: Confirmation of receiving the influenza immunization, or Acknowledgment of choosing not to disclose their influenza immunization status, with the understanding that they are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) during in-person service delivery or while working in an Alzheimer Society of BC (ASBC) facility. |
