Impact Statement On Friday November 12, 1982. founders Murray and Edna Black opened The Soup Kitchen to welcome hungry local residents in need of a safe haven, to be nourished without judgement, Today, 43 years later, their fierce dedication to making a difference in the lives of those in need continues as a comfort, and in some instances a lifeline, for the downtown community.

The Society is a registered non-profit,non-denominational charity. Located at 740 View Street Victoria, it is open Monday to Friday – including all holidays.

It is the oldest, completely volunteer-run food resource for those in need in Victoria.
Description The Soup Kitchen in the basement of St. Andrew's Cathedral is looking for volunteers to join the Tuesday, Thursday or Friday dine-in service teams.

Plus, we need someone to pick up fresh eggs every Friday morning at Galey Morning Fresh Eggs located at 4400 Blenkinsop Road in Saanich.

Lots of opportunities to help out front serving diners or in the back-end kitchen preparing sandwiches, treats or dish washing. You can be a regular or just on the spares list for when extra help is needed.
Training Details Training and mentoring by Team Leaders
Minimum Duration 7 - 12 months
Timing Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail 7:30 am to 10:30 am one day a week - can be flexible with hours
