Description
The volunteer Board member with legal background, will support and review board policies and procedures for legal accuracy. The board member may work with Council on retainer or refer VCHC to other needs. It is also anticipated that the board member will help ensure all practices comply with the Co-op Act and CRA, as needed, in conjunction with the Treasurer, Chair, and Operations Manager.
Training Details
Board members are provided with a binder, introducing members to co-op structure and requirements. A Board orientation and tour of the facility will be conducted around the election or appointment to the Board.
Working Conditions
Board members meet monthly for 2 hours, with additional reading time in advance. The Board member will be assigned an appropriate Committee that meets separately as needed. Board meetings are the 3rd Monday board meeting. Board members are required to be a member in good standing with the co-op to take a board seat. Members stand at the AGM, usually held in February. You must be physically present to stand.
