Description The purpose of Community Kitchen is to provide a variety of frozen and ready to eat foods for the community. The role of the Cook Volunteer is to plan, make, and portion 20-40 servings

The volunteer role may include any or all of the following:

-Plan and design a recipe using as much of the available Mustard Seed donations as possible using link to list provided
-Identify additional ingredients needed. Maximum budget is $80
-Send recipe to DCC Program Facilitator for approval
-Acquire additional needed ingredients by either:
-Communicating list to DCC Program Facilitators by 12:00pm Friday the week before your scheduled shift or
-Picking up the ingredients yourself and brining a receipt to the DCC Program Facilitators for reimbursement
-Independently prepare 20-40 portions during your scheduled shift at 755 Pandora Avenue

Examples:
-One pot meals: Chili, soup, casseroles
-Sandwiches/wraps
-Granola
-Muffins
-Dumplings
-Lentil Dhal and Rice
COVID-19 Vaccination Required Yes
Training Details Online orientation and general training followed by in-person position specific training and support from staff.
Working Conditions Working in a drop-in centre kitchen.
Minimum Duration 4 - 6 months
Timing Weekday - Daytime
Time Detail Commit to one shift a week from Monday-Friday preferably from 10-1 pm or 12-3 pm.

*The DCC is open 9-3:15 Monday-Friday. The Community Kitchen Cook role is very flexible and if another time would work better for you to volunteer please let us know.*
