The 1UP Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre is seeking passionate individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors. We are looking to strengthen our Board with members who bring diverse skills, experiences, perspectives, and lived experiences to support the organization's governance and strategic direction. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: * Financial management, accounting, or nonprofit finance * Legal expertise, particularly family law * Nonprofit governance, leadership, or organizational development * Human resources or organizational development * Fundraising, philanthropy, or donor relations * Grant writing, government relations, advocacy, or public policy We encourage applications from individuals who reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and who are committed to improving the lives of single-parent families. |
| Training Details |
• Support the vision, mission and values of the 1Up Single Parent Resource Centre • Leverage knowledge, expertise, connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve 1Up mission, vision, and goals • Actively promote 1UP and use Board members’ influence to positively contribute to advancing reputation and brand of the Centre. • Have familiarity with the structure of not-for-profit organizations • Hold the ability to engage in decision-making in the best interest of the organization • Collaboration skills • Previous board experience is not required but is an asset We encourage interested individuals to apply and are particularly interested in meeting professionals with strategic and analytical skills, ability to look at the “big picture” and expertise in one of the following areas: • Finance • Government Relations • Legal expertise • Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, and Media Relations • Fundraising and Resource Development Commitment As a director, time commitments include attending monthly Board meetings, as well as Committee involvement |
