| Description |
The Maritime Museum of BC (MMBC) is seeking applications from individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Board Directors serve an initial two-year term (up to three terms), attend monthly Board meetings, and serve on at least one Committee related to governance, finance, and collections’ care. Several executive positions will also be open for nominations. As a Board Director you will be a part of shaping the next strategic plan and providing policy direction to the Executive Director. Directors serve on a volunteer basis and are expected to attend monthly meetings, with some pre-meeting preparation. The MMBC Board is a skills-based Board. We are currently seeking Board nominees with skills in: •Museum Professional Skills / Arts, Culture, Heritage Connections •Business and Government Connections •Fundraising and Development •Financial Expertise Please see the attached application file for further details and instructions on how to apply. |

• Board Director Onboarding process with Chair and ED • Organizational orientation through Better Impact training • Orientation to Bylaws with Chair or ED The Nominating Committee is reviewing candidates on a rolling basis in preparation for the AGM scheduled for 8 October 2026, during which new Board members will be formally elected. |

Commitment required and/or Shifts Days/Times: • Attend monthly Board meetings (up to 2 hours each) •Read Board packages in advance of the monthly Board meeting and prepare any questions you might have (up to 3 hours each) • Chair or serve on a Board Committee, attending meetings and participating in discussion and follow-up tasks (varies depending on Committee) •Attend other Committee meetings as needed •Attend annual and special general meetings of the Society (at least 2 hours each meeting) • Volunteer at and/or attend museum events like the Classic Boat Festival, membership events, donor appreciation evets, etc. (varies depending on event) |
