Memory Connections offers arts, music and recreational programs for persons living with dementia and their care partners. People who are forgetting should not be forgotten. We simply can’t do it without volunteers. You make a vital contribution building meaningful relationships, contributing to a more dementia-inclusive community, and having some fun along the way! We are looking for enthusiastic, caring volunteers to join our Team Pivot and Memory Café Victoria programs. If you enjoy connecting with people, being active, music, arts, or simply sharing conversation and laughter, we would love to hear from you. |
| Description |
Team Pivot (Mondays at Commonwealth Place) is a social and recreational program for people living with Young Onset Dementia (dementia with onset before age 65). The program is designed to be active, social, and fun, with activities that encourage connection, participation, and a sense of belonging. Volunteers participate alongside our members, offering companionship and encouragement while joining in recreational and social activities. Flexible hours. Memory Café Victoria (Oak Bay, M, W, Fri, 10-12PM) is a music- and arts-based social program for people living with memory loss and their care partners. Our cafés create welcoming spaces where members participate in activities led by musicians and artists, with an emphasis on creativity, imagination, connection, and enjoyment. Volunteers help create the warm, inclusive atmosphere that makes our cafés so special. |
| Training Details | Orientation and support are provided. Join our team to gain invaluable experience working with older adults and the potential for reference letters to meet your future career goals |
| Working Conditions | You will be working with a facilitator to support members. No previous dementia experience is required. We are looking for people who are reliable, welcoming, comfortable engaging with others, and interested in helping people living with dementia remain active and connected in their communities. |
