Position Advisory Body Volunteer
Impact Statement Advisory Body Volunteers provide valuable advice and feedback to Esquimalt Council on various community matters. Advisory Bodies typically meet once a month to discuss items within their mandate.

Description Advisory Planning Commission:
Esquimalt’s Advisory Planning Commission provides feedback and recommendations on rezoning and development permit applications, Official Community Plan amendments, and proposed bylaws.

Board of Variance:
The Board of Variance grants minor variances from the Zoning Bylaw in situations where compliance would cause undue hardship, respecting the siting, dimension or size of a building or structure.

Design Review Committee:
The Design Review Committee advises on matters of urban design arising with respect to select development application permits, Official Community Plan amendments, and heritage alteration permits.

Environment, Parks, and Recreation Advisory Committee:
Esquimalt’s Environment, Parks, and Recreation Advisory provides advice and recommendations on any matters referred to the Committee and provide input on parks and recreation matters as requested by staff.

Training Details An orientation session is provided to all Advisory Body Volunteers.
Working Conditions Advisory Bodies meet at Esquimalt Municipal Hall Council Chambers to discuss items of municipal business within their mandate.
Minimum Duration More than 1 year
Timing Weekday - Daytime, Weekday - Evening
Time Detail Meeting times and dates vary by Advisory Body.

The Advisory Planning Commission typically meets monthly on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.

The Design Review Committee typically meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month, at 2:30 PM.

The Environment, Parks, and Recreation Advisory Committee typically meets a minimum of four (4) times per year, with no meetings held during the summer and winter breaks (July, August, and December).
