Description |
The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight to advance Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary’s mission to conserve lands and waters while inspiring community stewardship. We seek visionary, collaborative individuals committed to reconciliation and anti-oppression. Ideal candidates bring strong decision-making skills, effectively address challenges, and are dedicated to strengthening community connections. Responsibilities: Shape strategic direction aligned with the mission and values. Oversee budgets, policies, and financial performance. Provide guidance and oversight to the Executive Director. Build respectful relationships, honoring the sanctuary’s location on traditional lands. Benefits: Contribute to impactful conservation and education initiatives. Training Details | Board members receive training and orientation on governance best practices, Swan Lake’s mission, programs, and the Nature Sanctuary’s history and values. |

Timing | Weekday - Evening |
Time Detail | 1 year commitment, with opportunity for renewal. Approximately 8–12 hours per month for board and sub-committee meetings, along with related tasks. Board members are also expected to attend one or two community events annually. |
