Impact Statement As a senior’s volunteer with Seniors Serving Seniors you will be providing aid and comfort to other seniors and having a direct impact on their health and wellbeing
This position is ideal for Seniors who work part time or are retired and want to make a one on one difference in their community or for those interested in senior's issues
Seniors Serving Seniors is a registered non-profit charitable society in British Columbia that supports the well-being of seniors.
Description The RTH program is designed to assist seniors who have had a hospital stay or surgery return to independent living. The assistance typically lasts for 2 to 12 weeks.
RTH volunteer support is based on individual need
Some RTH volunteer opportunities primarily concern transportation to doctor, financial or other appointments and small errands and do not require an ongoing continuing commitment to a particular senior.
Some volunteer opportunities involve a closer relationship with the senior and help by providing some companionship, visits and walks, help with Handydart and other scheduled deliveries (ie: groceries by Sendial) and with help connecting to Senior’s Centres and other community services

RTH senior volunteers do not provide personal care, medical advice or medication management, laundry, housecleaning or cooking services.
Training Details Training will be done by the Volunteer Manager individually or in small groups supplemented by monthly talks on issues of concern to seniors and by knowledge sharing within our volunteer community
Working Conditions you will accept volunteer assignments from your home by phone or internet. Volunteers use their own vehicle for transportation request and should carry at least $3million liability insurance. You will be required to submit to a Criminal Records Check (CRC) for working with vulnerable populations.
