Description Seed Sower volunteers learn native plant propagation techniques and grow native plants at home for use in restoration projects and the Nature Sanctuary’s annual Native Plant Sale Fundraiser. It’s a rewarding way to support local biodiversity while joining a community of native plant enthusiasts.

We provide training and materials—including soil, containers, and seeds or cuttings if needed. Experience growing native plants is an asset but not required. This role is well suited to folks already gardening and growing garden plants. Key Responsibilities:

•Participate in program training
•Propagate and tend to one or more species of native plants in your home garden.
•Bring plants to the Nature Sanctuary when they are ready to plant out
Training Details We provide onsite and online training in: Introduction to native Plant Propagation; Growing Plants by Seed, Layering, Cuttings and Division. Seed gathering and storing techniques, as well as summer and winter plant care.
Working Conditions On site training occurs outside at Swan Lak.
Minimum Duration More than 1 year
Timing Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail Trainings are offered 4 x per year on weekend days or weekday evenings. Volunteers grow plants for 1-3 years.
