On Friday November 12, 1982. founders Murray and Edna Black opened The Soup Kitchen to welcome hungry local residents in need of a safe haven, to be nourished without judgement, Today, 44 years later, their fierce dedication to making a difference in the lives of those in need continues as a comfort, and in some instances a lifeline, for the downtown community. The Society is a registered non-profit,non-denominational charity. Located at 740 View Street Victoria, it is open Monday to Friday – including all holidays. It is the oldest, volunteer-run food resource for those in need in Victoria. |
| Description | The Soup Kitchen is looking for a Treasurer to join its Board of Directors. Working with the organization's bookkeeper, the Treasurer over sees the finances of the Society and provides monthly reports to the Board. |
