| Description |
The Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary Society invites applications to join its Board of Directors. Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary is a charitable, non-profit environmental conservation and education organization in Saanich. The Board provides governance oversight to support the Society’s mission to conserve and restore sanctuary lands and waters, while fostering community stewardship and collaboration with First Peoples. We are seeking individuals with experience in governance, leadership, fundraising, community engagement, information technology, or risk management. Directors provide strategic guidance, ensure compliance with legal and financial obligations, and uphold the Society’s vision and values. The role includes a two-year term, requiring approximately 8–12 hours per month, including Board and committee participation. Applicants must reside in the Capital Regional District and complete a Criminal Record Check. |
| Training Details | New board members are provided with an orientation to their role and responsibilities as a Society volunteer and board director, as well as the mission and work of the organization. Incoming directors are provided with the Board Policy Manual and will have the opportunity to review and discuss it with a Governance Committee member. |
