Impact Statement To educate the public on ska, reggae and other genres influenced by the Jamaican and Caribbean musical traditions and promoting their importance within Canada, in support of cultural diversity. To empower youth, local musicians and music lovers to be active members of their local arts and music community.
Description Help keep our festival looking beautiful and tidy.
Green Team volunteers are motivated to keep things green with ensuring festival attendees are using proper receptacles for recycling and waste. Much of this position is dancing, enjoying the festival, and sorting recycling.
Looking for volunteers who aren't afraid of elbow grease and have a passion for environmental care.
Training Details 1 week before start of festival we will be holding our Volunteer Orientation that all volunteers are expected to attend. This orientation takes place June17th at 7pm at the Victoria Curling Club 1952 Quadra street in the Upper Lounge. You will meet with organizers and get questions about your volunteer area answered. Further training will take place at the start of your volunteer shift.
Working Conditions Volunteers will be working outdoors at our music festival at Ship Point in the inner harbour. Comfortable shoes encouraged as you will be on your feet lots, closed toe shoes required for safety. Hats and sunglasses encouraged for sun protection, additional layers for when the sun sets and temp drops. Hearing protection advised (we usually have earplugs on site, but if volunteer has their own, they are encouraged to bring theirs)
Standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, lots of hi-5's and dance breaks provided, as well as a volunteer lounge for breaks, snacks, beverages and shade.

Time Detail Shifts are typically 4-6.5 hours in the afternoon and evening during our festival in June.
