When you volunteer your time with Luther Court, you help make a lasting impact in the lives of people of all ages in Greater Victoria who come to our campus of care for belonging and inspiration. Our volunteer Board of Directors provides governance oversight and strategic direction to ensure accountability, quality and compliance with all applicable legislation and Accreditation Canada standards. The Board is responsible for monitoring Luther Court’s operational performance and safeguarding the wellbeing of those we serve. |
| Description |
Volunteer directors are active members of Luther Court's governance board. In addition, each director is invited to join a minimum of 1 sub-committee focused on: executive management, governance and strategic planning, finance and capital assets, fundraising, or care services. | Training Details |
New directors receive a half-day orientation session that includes: - a tour of Luther Court’s campus of care; - a comprehensive organizational and board information manual, and - access to a secure online portal where information is shared. Mentorship: new members are paired with a director who has been on the board for a minimum of 1 year. Throughout the year, directors may also be invited to take part in specialized education sessions and events during board meetings or at other times. |

Our dedicated board members are committed to fostering a culture of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). We welcome applications from individuals that bring a variety of skills, education, and lived experience to the table. Scheduled board meetings are offered in hybrid format where directors have the option to join in person or via zoom. |

The Board of Directors meets at regularly scheduled meetings monthly, except for the months of July and August when a summertime break is observed. The monthly time commitment is approximately 5 hours per month. Directors are elected for a maximum of two 3-year terms. |
