Position: Tour Guide
Location: 1910 Norseman Road, North Saanich, BC, Canada
Impact Statement: The museum is run 100% by volunteers. The two components of our mandate are to restore and display aircraft and artefacts important to the history of aviation in BC, and to maintain and strengthen relationships with our community. We have about 15,000 visitors a year. An important feature of our museum is a strong desire for our members to have fun!
Description: Visitors to the museum have the option of a guided tour at no extra charge. Our guides are knowledgeable about aviation and the aircraft and artefacts in the museum and are enthusiastic about communicating this knowledge to visitors.
Training Details: New guides are mentored by experienced guides and have access to manuals describing our aircraft and artefacts in detail.
Working Conditions: The museum is open 362 days a year - from 10 am to 4 pm in the summer and from 11 am to 3 pm in the winter. We expect our guides to commit to at least one day a week.
Minimum Duration: More than 1 year
Timing: Weekday - Daytime, Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: One day a week at minimum. Six hours in summer and four hours in winter.
