Impact Statement: The purpose of the Burnside Gorge Community Association is to lead, promote and support prevention and intervention based initiatives which encourage healthy, inclusive, and socially just living. This is accomplished through:

*Engaging and consulting with our communities concerning issues and developments important to our residents and businesses
*Providing a continuum of high quality programs and supports that strengthen the lives of children, youth and families in Greater Victoria
*Establishing, promoting and operating facilities that provide public amenities to benefit the community
*Cultivating community connections and a sense of community pride through celebrations and initiatives
*Advocating in the best interest of our community and ensuring a representative voice for all of those we serve
*Fostering work place practices that support employees and strengthen our efforts to be a model employer
*Supporting the provision of housing for low and moderate income households
Description: The Selkirk Waterfront Festival is a multi-cultural community event providing hours of fun and entertainment for people of all ages. Hosted by the Burnside Gorge Community Association this event offers:
Free admission for the public
Live entertainment by talented local performers
Colourful vendor street market showcasing local artisans & crafters
International Food Court with Victoria’s foodie favourites
Family Fun Zone with fun inflatables and interactive family activities
Volunteers are needed for many areas of the festival including vendor assistants, café crew, parking crew, stage assistants, children’s fun zone leaders, and set-up and take-down crew.
Training Details: Volunteer Orientation meeting will take place at the Burnside Gorge Community Centre on Friday May 25 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM
Working Conditions: Outdoors, possibly noisy from stage sounds and public. Various volunteer positions. Some involves prolonged periods of standing (i.e. parking crew), some are more sedentary (volunteer HQ tent) and some are more physical in nature (loading crew, take down crew).
Shifts can be 3 hrs, 6 hrs or longer if desired.

Timing: Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail: Morning Shift: 7:00 am – 10:00 pm
Morning Shift 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Afternoon Shift 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Age: 13+
