Position: Habitat Restoration Volunteer - Habitat Restoration at SNIDCEL (Tod Inlet)
Location: Off Wallace Drive just south of Benvenuto Ave, Brentwood Bay, BC Gowlland Tod Provincial Park
Impact Statement: SeaChange dedicates itself to marine conservation through education and restoration activities in coastal communities surrounding the Salish Sea. SeaChange has been restoring SNIDCEL or Tod Inlet near Brentwood Bay since 2006. The site was a First Nations village known to the local WSANEC nation as SNIDCEL or "Place of the Blue Grouse". Since then, the area has been greatly impacted by a Cement factory. The years of support by volunteers and school children have make a great difference to the ecosystems of this special place.
Description: Habitat Restoration Volunteer: Volunteers are needed for habitat restoration: removing invasive plants and planting new native plants in the beautiful setting of Tod Inlet, Gowlland Tod Provincial Park. You would be working with a supervisor and other like minded volunteers.
Training Details: Training will be on the job, with the supervisor.
Working Conditions: You will be doing physical work outside in all weather conditions. Dress for the weather and bring your own water/extra snacks with you. SeaChange provides tools and gloves as well as tea and light refreshments at the break.
Minimum Duration: 3 months or less
Timing: Weekend - Daytime
