Description Every Thursday the NPNA puts together free, weekly grocery hampers made up of produce, bread, dairy, some non-perishable items and eggs. The hampers are made between 10:00am-11:30am, and delivered by volunteers between 11:30am-2pm. We are grateful to be able to use the Community Hall at First Met Church (932 Balmoral) as our home base of operations.
Onsite coordinator: Thursdays, 9am-12:30pm: Prepare space for grocery hamper sorting, and then oversee the sorting and distribution to delivery drivers. This includes:
- setting up folding tables and getting out the hamper supplies (sanitizer, bags, etc)
- greeting other volunteers when they arrive at First Met,
- assisting with the construction of the hampers,
- greeting delivery drivers and loading their vehicles with their hampers to deliver (you’ll be provided a list, and the drivers all do the same route each week)
- sanitizing and putting away folding tables and putting away hamper supplies
Training Details You will receive training and support both prior to and throughout your involvement. You would be joining a group of lovely volunteers who have been doing this program for one year already. You will fit right in!
Working Conditions This role requires the ability to lift boxes (40 lb+) and carry folding tables.The sorting space is in a large community hall at First Met Church (932 Balmoral). There are washrooms on site.
