Description |
Volunteers have the option to work one-on-one or facilitating a group setting with offender(s) recently released from a federal institution. Volunteers who chooses to work one-on-one as a mentor will be matched to an offender and will provide support in various aspects of their life as they reintegrate back into society. While volunteers could also work in group settings, interacting with offenders out for ETA at a halfway house. The overall goal of this program is to enhance public safety by working closely with parole office staff, halfway house staff, and other members of the offender’s Case Management Team in order to ensure a smooth transition for the offender. Some examples of activities within the mentorship include: • Assisting with grocery shopping/banking • Going for coffee • Assisting in setting, achieving and re-evaluating long and short-term plans • Participating in leisure activities of interest |
Training Details | Must be able to attend and complete all trainings that are provided by John Howard Society and Victoria Parole. |
