Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Maritime Museum of BC. The Maritime Museum of BC Learning Facilitator Volunteers enhance the learning opportunities that we offer. Learning Facilitators will contribute to quality learning opportunities at the Museum, whether it be facilitating small group conversations during School Programs, helping a struggling participant during Creative Workshops, or interacting with museum visitors through artefact interpretation. By sharing your time, you help us with our mission to: Engage communities in witnessing and preserving maritime heritages. |
Description |
Learning Facilitators will contribute to quality learning opportunities at the Museum Duties: engage with museum visitors by interpreting exhibits and artefacts, set-up and take down of programs, assist with a variety programs including facilitating small group activities, developing own content, covering front desk if needed. Training Details | Training will be provided through online training modules as well as on site training. Training will include how to work with different ages groups and how to handle potentially difficult conversations. Volunteers will usually work alongside a coordinator during program implementation. Staff members always on-site to assist with questions. |
Working Conditions | • Crouching, sitting and bending are involved. Working with children (increased exposure to germs and bodily fluids, difficult behaviours), a chance of uncomfortable conversations and exposure to animal furs. Training and safety measures will be provided. Volunteers snacks are available. Possibility for lots of down time to work on personal projects or research. |
