| Description |
-Support QVCC garden coordinator in various community garden activities -Communicate garden's ongoing needs, provide suggestions, and implement QVCC coordinators action plans for garden. -Intermediate garden skill level required, with specific knowledge of caring for medicinal plants. -Common garden activities; identifying plants/weeds, planting, weeding, mulching, pruning, harvesting plants. -Direct and lead a small team of volunteers at various skill levels. Communicate/organize team to do work parties in garden when needed. Assign garden task to volunteers based on their skill levels. -Give 1-1 orientation tours of the garden to new volunteers. Teach beginner gardener volunteers necessary skills -Assist QVCC garden coordinator with the gardens events and workshops. -The volunteer lead gardener will be overseen by the QVCC garden coordinator to troubleshoot any garden problems, or resolve any conflicts amongst team. |
| Training Details |
-QVCC garden coordinator will provide mentorship on the garden and plants specific needs. QVCC coordinator will make an action plan for you to execute. Training on plant medicine making can be provided. QVCC garden coordinator will still maintain overall responsibility of the garden. -Improve skills in garden planning, plant identification, garden maintenance techniques, irrigation, harvesting. -Opportunity to develop leadership skills as the lead of the garden volunteer team. |
