Position Tech Mate
Impact Statement To change what it is to be blind through innovative programs and powerful advocacy that enable Canadians impacted by blindness to live the lives they choose.
Description Provide one-to-one technology training for individuals who are blind or partially sighted, over a series of maximum five sessions per participant.

Seeking volunteers with the following attributes and skills:

- Willingness to learn and work with people with sight loss

- Knowledge and experience using accessibility features on iPhones OR willingness to be trained on above features combined with an interest in technology

- Trustworthy, patient, and friendly, empathetic manner

- Reliable, organized and able to work with minimal supervision

- Strong English language skills and ability to communicate effectively; ability to speak a second language may be an asset

- Must be willing to attend ongoing training regarding new advances in technology or new teaching techniques
Training Details General CNIB Orientation, Sighted Guide training, and Technology training (including Voiceover or Zoom and accessibility apps) provided virtually by CNIB.
Working Conditions We ask for a minimum six-month commitment to the program.
A thorough background check including a Clear Police Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check are required.

Time Detail flexible, depending on volunteer and participant's availabilities.
