Description
Lodge Assistants foster relationships with residents that draw on their individuality and abilities. Volunteers interact with residents through quiet leisure activities such as crafts, music, or reading together. In addition, Lodge Assistants socialize with residents and participate alongside them in active group games like bowling, gardening, exercises, and discussion groups. Lodge Assistants initiate conversations and engage meaningful activities whenever possible to enhance the quality of life for all residents.

Training Details
Volunteers are required to attend General Volunteer Orientation to learn about our philosophy of care, policies and procedures, and strategies on how best to support people living with dementia.
Working Conditions
Indoors within a long term care home setting interacting with individuals living with dementia and other cognitive and physical disabilities. This role is well supported and supervised by staff.

Time Detail
We are seeking assistance during our main activity times from 10:00-12:00 or 1:30-4:00pm. Regular weekly attendance is encouraged to develop relationships with resident. Most volunteers select one morning or afternoon shift per week (2 hours/week).
