Position Coffee & Chat Assistant - Coffee & Chat
Impact Statement The Alzheimer Society of B.C. exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, to promote public awareness and to search for the causes and the cures.

Coffee and Chat is a social program designed to help clients meet new people, engage in social activities and have fun! Groups are available in-person or online for various audience groups, including groups for people living with early-stage dementia, caregivers (a family member, friend or other care partner) and mixed groups for both people living with early-stage dementia to attend with a care partner.
Description Role Responsibilities:

Assist with set-up and clean-up of refreshments, games, and activities.
Provide positive verbal support and encouragement to participants.
Facilitate social interaction, ensuring everyone feels included and can enjoy activities.
Spend 1:1 time with participants who need extra support.

Requirements:

Enjoy being with people and comfortable fostering social interactions.
Patient, friendly, and committed to a non-judgmental, inclusive environment.
Sensitive to boundaries when working with vulnerable adults.
Willingness to learn about dementia and support individuals with early symptoms.
Able to do some lifting (tables, chairs, supplies) and standing.
Experience with older adults or dementia is an asset.

Training Details Training provided:
An orientation to the Alzheimer Society of B.C., foundational learning about dementia and onsite training, supervision as well as on-going mentorship opportunities.
Working Conditions Commitment:
• Minimum 6 month commitment (2 to 3 hours per week).
Minimum Duration 7 - 12 months
Timing Weekday - Daytime
