Teachers instill a belief in blind people’s own capabilities and in the limitless possibilities open to them by adopting a non-custodial approach (i.e. it is not about sighted people doing things for blind people; it is about blind people doing things for themselves, and it is about blind teachers working with blind students to increase skills and confidence). |

The Pacific Training Centre for the Blind (PTCB) is looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors and/or one of our committees to support our vital work. This is a volunteer opportunity for people who are committed to empowering blind individuals to live independent, confident, and productive lives. |

The Pacific Training Centre for the Blind (PTCB) is looking for passionate, dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors and/or one of our committees to support our vital work. This is a volunteer opportunity for people who are committed to empowering blind individuals to live independent, confident, and productive lives. Qualifications for Directors and Committee Members: • A strong commitment to PTCB’s mission and values • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills • Experience in governance, finance, policy development, or community engagement is an asset • Board Members: At least 80% must be blind. One sighted board member may be included, and others can participate in a non-voting advisory role • Committee Members: Open to both blind and sighted individuals Current Opportunities: • Board Members – Provide governance, strategic direction, and oversight to ensure the Centre continues to thrive • Organizational Development Committee Members – Help strengthen our internal processes, policies, and strategic growth • Finance Committee Members – Focus on budgeting, financial planning, and fundraising strategies How to Apply: Please send the following to our Executive Director at elizabeth@pacifictrainingcentre.ca: • A letter of interest (tell us what role(s) you’re applying for, why you want to support PTCB, and what skills/experience you bring) • Your current resume • References Deadline: Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
